Congratulations!

Happy Sunday!

It's time for a new challenge over at Red Carpet Studio

http://redcarpetstudiochallenge.blogspot.com

This is my first shaker card...EEK!!

I just LOVE how it turned out.

When I think of award shows/ceremonies, congratulations and speeches are my first thought.  That was my inspiration for this card.  And I wanted the gold (as the Oscar) to be the focus of my card.

.........................................................................

The star and banner are both from Samantha Walker's 1 Piece Shooting Star Banner
I stamped 'congratulations' in gold pigment ink......
Filled the shaker with gold sequins, plus attached a few to the front panel.

For the inside of the card, I traced the 'negative' star with a gold pen in a random pattern.

First of 12 Tags for 2014

2014tags

I created my first EVER Tim Holtz inspired tag!!!!
I am so excited to share it with you.

I own several of the supplies that Tim used in his tag....but there are many that I don't.  I was a bit creative in that department.
The heart stencil is one that I do not have.  So I created my own with my Silhouette software and a Samantha Walker Silhouette file when I cut out my tag.  (I do have some Ranger tags, but they are smaller than 6 1/4" x 3 1/8".)

I also do not own any distress stains (yet), but I do have all the distress inks (and markers).  So I substituted.  I put the same colors (as the stains Tim used) of distress inks on my craft mat and misted them with water to color my tag, followed by my heat tool to dry the tag completely.
Then I washi taped my stencil to the mat sandwiching the tag in between...inked up the hearts with a tool and clear heat embossed.  I distressed the edge of the tag with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and my TH distress tool.

I tried the chalk and matte heat embossing...but I just could not get that right.  I do not have the frosted crystal embossing power that Tim used.  Maybe that is it?  The ones I have just aren't good enough for this technique....possibly?  So, I just used Distress Embossing Ink with some white embossing powder.    The stamp I used is from Tim's Stampers Anonymous set Creative Muse.

For my chipboard grunge heart, I cut out four hearts (from the same file of Samantha's) from kraft cardstock and glued them together with Glossy Accents.  The heart was inked up with Fire Brick Distress Ink.  Using glossy accents, I applied Spun Sugar Distress Glitter (as I don't own any red glitters yet).

I also do not own any industrious stickers...I improvised for this too.  I created an arrow in Silhouette and cut it from black cardstock.  To give a metal/industrial look, I added Brushed Pewter Distress Stickles.
The heart and arrow were added with foam squares, for some dimension and interest.

The lower border was also cut from black cardstock and accented with the same Distress Stickles as the arrow.  Before the Stickles were added, I used some shape scissors to the bottom edge.

I added twine in place of trimmings.

Even though I didn't have all the supplies, and I am new to some of the techniques that Tim used, I am very happy with how my tag turned out.  Now what to do with it?

Easter Fun!

Happy Tuesday!

I wanted to share a cute little Easter card with you today.

(inside)

My inspiration for this creation is the current Peachy Keen Stamps challenge 14:02.  The challenge is a photo/color inspiration

http://www.peachykeenstamps.com/forums/topic/peachy-keen-challenge-1402-colorphoto-inspiration/

Don't you LOVE these colors?  The first thing I thought of was Easter.  Which led me to the Peachy Keen March 2013 Stamp of the Month set.  I used the accompanying SVG file to cut the eggs.  The two side egg faces are from the March set and the middle face is from PK-1321: In the Garden Faces stamp set.  I colored the faces with white gel pen, distress marker, dry chalk, and glossy accents.  The word 'happy'  and the inside sentiment are from the March SOTM set.

The Easter banner is a Samantha Walker Bunny Easter Banner Silhouette file, you can find it HERE.  The orange borders and the inside borders are a modified layer from the Samantha Walker Family 'Dial' Calendar Silhouette file.

The green rhinestones are from Miriam's Crafting Supplies

My Little Pony Coloring Page

Happy Sunday!!

Did you know that The Scrapbooking Queen has a DT Call going on?

The theme of the challenges will be with coloring book images.  How fun is that?

To apply to her call, the Queen has provided a sweet pony image.

To get started, I researched who this little beauty was.  She is Applejack - a blonde pony with green eyes, red apples, red hair ties, and a brown hat.

I have a 7 year old girl who LOVES My Little Pony (along with Strawberry Shortcake & Barbie), so I thought I'd stay true to Applejack's character.  You never know what she may end up on for my little girl.  :-)

I imported the image into my Silhouette software, to use with the print and cut feature.  She was cut out at.  I cut her out (approximately 3.5" x 4") of Xpress cardstock for use with my Copics.

Copics:
E00, E51, E53, E55, E57, E59
R12, R14, R17, R29, R89
G05, G12, G14, G21, G46
Y00, Y11, Y15, Y19, Y23, Y26

Just a Note.....

Happy Saturday!

Are you as ready for Spring as I am?  This winter just seems to never end!

In the midst of my hermit living this season, I created this lovely card.

The parts of the bear (body, face-2, & bow) were cut out of Xpress Cardstock using the complimentary SVG, then colored with Copics.  The dress was stamped (and hand cut) out of the same paper as the card accents.

I highlighted her with a clear Spica pen and a white gel pen.

For dimension, I popped the top face and bow on foam squares.

The frames (for the bear and inside sentiment) is a Samantha Walker Silhouette File (#14232)
The white ovals were cut from white Core'dinations cardstock.  The mauve toned frame was cut from pink cardstock in my stash.  The color of the cardstock was too bright for the feel of the card as a whole.  So I toned it down with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.  A perfect match!  Some liquid pearls for the finishing touch.

Love

Happy Sunday!

This week's challenge at Red Carpet Studio is inspired by............

Create a project featuring hearts in honor of Valentine's Day.

My inspiration for this challenge was my family.  I have only been crafting for a few years and I have NEVER made them Valentine's cards.  Gasp!  So, this year I did.

These two cards are for my two little boys (ages 5 & 3) who are superhero fanatics.
Batman & Superman Cricut Cartridges, Pearls from Miriam's Crafting Supplies, Whimsical Designs Stamps

For my 7 year old baby girl.....as any little girl, she is a Disney Princess fan.  On our last family vacation to Walt Disney World, we ate at the 'Be Our Guest' restaurant...she LOVED it.
All Dreams Come True Cricut Cartridge, Pearls, Stamps

My 15 year old is a giraffe lover.  She has a door hanger on her door that I did a few years ago with a giraffe...she won't take it down.
Create A Critter Cartridge, Buttons, Stickles, Stamps

And for the LOVE of my life........
Scraptastical Kreations Banner Blitz & KISS-Love Me Tender files, Paper Studio Paper, DCWV Carstock, Pearls, Stamps

 I wish you a Happy Valentine's Day.

Thank you for spending time with me today.

Valentine Card

Happy Wednesday!

Today has been a pretty good day here at home.  Finally have a grasp on hubby's health problems.  While not the big 'C' (Cancer)...it is still a difficult time for him.  He has a condition that is similar to an autoimmune disease that is wreaking havoc on body systems, including lungs, liver, spleen, and various lymph nodes.  And to top it off, the primary medication to manage his condition has trigger hyperglycemia (Diabetes).  Poor guy...can't seem to get ahead.    BUT at least now (after months & months of doctor visits, surgeries, tests) we have a diagnosis and a treatment plan, and we can move forward.  Yay!!

In the bit of lowered stress time, I have been crafting away..and I wanted to share with you just one of my little creations.

Don't you love it??

The card was created using some printed cardstock from Hobby Lobby and some solid cardstock from my stash.   The heart 'band' and inside mat was highlighted with Stickles.

I just love this card.  It reminds me of my oldest daughter's room.  Her room was painted with these exact colors/shades.  Ahhh.....memories.............

I'm a 'sucker' for you

Happy Friday!!!

It is SO cold here today....single digit highs.  But the sun is out...so ALL is well in our Winter World.  And because of the temps (and I cleaned the house like crazy yesterday washing the family's bedding and other laundry), today is a scrappy day for me. YAY!!!!   Before I get to scrapping my bottom off, I wanted to share with you a cute little card I make a few days ago...

My inspiration for this card was two fold....the current PKS Sketch challenge (see sketch below) and Valentine's Day.

PKC-14-01

I used Miss Kate's Lollipop Couple for my focal point (and hearts).  For her cute little face, I used Peachy Keen Stamps January SOTM.  I highlighted the face with white gel pen and dry chalk.  The lollipop is on pop dots, along with the 'floating' hearts..

The paper is from some loose 6x6 in my stash.  The flatback pearls are from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.

The inside says "I'm a 'Sucker' for you."
Just perfect for a special little one.  ;-)
