ABC Ransom Blog Hop

Red Carpet Studio Card challenge, click here.

Welcome to the ABC Ransom Blog Hop,
hosted by Red Carpet Studio!

If you've come from Dawn's blog, you're in the right place.

The Red Carpet Studio designers thought it would be fun to host a mystery blog hop while showcasing projects that can be made using all those leftover letters in your stash - hence where the "ransom" comes in. Ransom notes play a huge role in mystery/suspense films, and are often created out of random letters cut from magazines, newspapers, etc. in order to disguise handwriting.

While we won't be doing any kidnapping or holding anybody ransom today - we do have some creative projects to share with you!

For my project using leftover letters in my stash, I created...

...a card.  Looks simple, right?  Not quite.  But I loved creating it!  I used my Silhouette Cameo, pen holder, a Prismacolor Pencil, and a Scraptastical Kreations file.  After drawing the tree and bat, I stickled the bat to make it pop.  I outlined the tree with a gold gel pen to give the card a bit of depth and visual interest.  The label is from another Scraptastical Kreations file.  I distressed it with distress ink, stickled the edges, and added my letters.   I really do not have any letters in my stash.  Don't know why, I just don't.  :-)

Supplies:
Card base
Scraptastical Kreations files: A Haunted Halloween and Label It, Tag It, Frame It
Distress Inks
Stickles
Prismacolor Pencil
Gel Pen

We're also holding some blog candy ransom! However, the blog candy is hidden, and only certain stops of the hop are hiding it. The only way you can win is if you comment on those blogs! Now, we're not going to tell you whose blogs those are (that would be too easy) but we will tell you what the prizes are!
$20 Gift Certificate

$10 Gift Certificate
$10 Gift Certificate

There will be three winners. Please make sure to leave your contact information when commenting so we can contact you if you win. You have until next Saturday, November 3rd, to hop and comment. Winners will be announced with the start of our next layout challenge on Sunday November 4th at Red Carpet Studio.

And don't forget to check out this week's challenge at Red Carpet Studio! Our challenge this week is inspired by "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and the challenge is to create any fall or Halloween card.

Your next stop is Chas's blog.

P.S. My letter is...A

If you can put all the letters together from each stop of the hop (they're in order), you have a chance to win a mystery prize! Once you've figured out our hidden message, email it to redcarpetstudiochallenge@gmail.com. The mystery prize winner will be announced with the other winners on Sunday November 4th. HINT: The message is a clue as to what our next layout challenge will be. :)

Breast Cancer Blog Hop

Welcome to our 1st annual Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop.  We are so glad that you have decided to join us for this very important cause.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.  Since there is currently no cure, early detection is crucial.  You can do this by having yearly mammograms, yearly clinical and regular self-breast exams.

We have some FABULOUS sponsors for this hop!!!!!  You MUST leave a comment on each blog in the hop to be eligible for any and all prizes.

Also, for all prizes you wish to be considered for, you MUST visit their FB pages and/or blogs, LIKE & FOLLOW, and leave a comment on FB.  So if you want to be eligible for ALL the prizes, (I know I would!), you have a bit of work to do, but I promise, it will be worth it!!!

The Breast Cancer cause is a cause close to my heart.  It claimed the life of my aunt and affected my great-grandmother very late in her life. As it does, it's lasting effects do not end there.

My project is a simple, but one that I can keep close and remember my loved ones.

The base, ribbon, and Hope were all created with Make the Cut software and my Cameo.  I added a bit of twine, so that I do not lose my place in my favorite book.

As I said, Breast Cancer is a cause close to my heart.  But I have lost many loved ones to other forms of cancer.  Right now my baby brother is in the fight of his life.

He was diagnosed with Carcinoma in situ January, 2010.  He is only 34 years old.  He is a father of four, ages 16 to 10.  He has followed each and every test, treatment, recommendation that his doctor has thrown at him.  But his body is being take over this malicious disease.  He is unable to work.  His family is losing all their posessions, including their home.  There is one way that we all can help, and you could win a $25 gift certificate to a wonderful paper piecing store, or some great scrappy stuff in the process.  Please consider donating just $5 to his Cancer fund.

For more information on the $25 gift certificate, please visit Scraptastical Kreations Fan Page.  Please leave a private message letting the Scraptastical Kreations about your generous contribution for your name to be entered into the drawing.

Happy Wednesday!

This month Scraptastical Kreations is having a month long challenge.

Each month that challenge will be posted on SK's blog.  You will be able to enter by posting your challenge to the Scraptastical Kreations Facebook Fan page. (We will be using a linking option in the next challenge, so that those that do not go the Facebook route are able to join in as well.)

One winner will win a $20 GC to Scraptastical Kreations store. The winner will be chosen by our design team, and will be posted on SK's blog, as well as on the fan page.

So, our first challenge this month is to create a 3D Halloween project. The 3 requirements - it has to be 3D, it must be Halloween, and it must contain at least 1 Scraptastical Kreations SVG/Paper Piecing on it.

I made a lantern for my project.  It looks simple.  I like that.  The kids like it too.

The lantern's base is a file from the Silhouette Studio.  It originally had spiders on it.  I substituted with bats and pumpkins from Scaptastical Kreations A Haunted Halloween file.  I chalked and stickled the edges.

Supplies:
SK file
Silhouette File
Stickles
Paper
Button
Twine
Chalk

Hope my creation inspires you somehow.

Karber Challenge 50

Happy Sunday!

Here's a fun card I made for the Karber Challenge.  The theme of the challenge is use your favorite embellishment and a Karber Stamp.

I used the Witch Millie rubber stamp and colored in with some Pebbles Chalk.  (It's bit lighter in the picture.)  The stamp also includes a sentiment.  I cut the Happy Halloween sentiment, chalked it, and attached it in the corner.  For the embellishments I used some copper rhinestones and black stickles on Millie's eyes.

The papers are out of pack I picked up at Target.

Hope my creation inspires you somehow.

Much scrappy love,

Tonya
