Happy Birthday Kathy!!!

Happy Tuesday!

Today I am joining many ladies in honoring Kathy Jakopovich's birthday.

We all made something using Peachy Keen Stamps to honor such a wonderful woman.  We are all uploading pictures of our projects to The Peachy Place to surprise Kathy.   She is such a great person.  Love her to pieces!

I created a card using my favorite stamp release from Peachy Keen.  (You can find the full release here.)

I used Bazzill Card Shoppe Cardstock and Simon Says Stamps Stitched Rectangle and Circle dies to create the front panel.

Then I stamped it with the Peachy Keen Stamps Chinese Swirls background stamp in pastel blue Hero Arts Shadow Ink.

The Clown from the Peachy Keen Stamps June 2014 Release was stamped on a white circle of Papertrey Ink cardstock with My Favorite Things Black Liquorice Hybrid Ink.

I colored the clown with Prismacolor Pencils and Odorless Mineral Spirits.  I thought the color from pencils would work with the color of the cardstock better than Copics.  ;-)

I added Wink of Stella to his hat and bow tie, glossy accents to his glasses, and white gel pen to his shirt (polka dots), bow tie, and hat.

The front of the card was finished off with a bit of twine and Doodlebug Sequins.

To complete the inside, I stamped the full clown with ticket from the June 2014 release set in Desert Sand Memento Ink..and the sentiment in the hybrid ink so it popped.

Be sure to pop over to The Peachy Place and wish Kathy a very Happy Birthday!!!

New Blog

I started this blog as a way to participate in my first design team.  At the time, I was green at crafting (in general) and was not very creative...so I came up with a very simple blog name and went with it.

As time has gone on and my crafty talents have developed, my need to have a place to showcase my creations and document my journey has changed.

So as 2014 is coming to an end and 2015 is beginning......this is the time to take the creative leap to a more fitting place to blog.

Thank you for being a follower, and I invite you to pop over to my new blog, Paper of Many Colors.....

and follow along with me and discover what unfolds....

It's In The Bag

Happy Friday!

Can you believe Christmas is less than 2 weeks away??   I must say., the time just flies by faster with each passing year.  2014 has been a total blur.  This is why I start Christmas shopping in September/October.   If I didn't, there wouldn't be presents for anyone.

Anywhoo.....it's time for another 3-D challenge over at Cardz TV.

“It’s in the Bag”
Create a Christmas Gift Bag

I created a cute little Santa bag for this challenge.

Isn't just adorable??

Don't you love the play on words with the tag?

The tag was created using a circle punch, distress ink, perfect pearls mist, and Cardz TV stamps.

And I love the little present boxes.

(Also, there is a rain check sale going on this weekend!)

Elf

Welcome to another challenge at Red Carpet Studio! We are only going to be having one challenge this month. You have all month to enter and you can enter up to 3 times!

This bi-weekly challenge is inspired by the movie Elf.
This movie is about Buddy who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa's elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn't fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father.

THE CHALLENGE: CREATE A PROJECT INSPIRED THE HOLIDAYS
(Please click HERE for challenge guidelines)

For the challenge, I am showcasing some cards.
I have been making Christmas cards for months.  I have enjoyed playing with different techniques.

I used the Winter Joy from Unity Stamp Co. as the focus of this card.  I stamped the image on Xpress It cardstock with My Favorite Things Hybrid ink.  The snowman was colored with copics and highlighted with a spica glitter pen and clear Wink of Stella brush pen.  The sentiment is from an AmyR Stamp set.

The snowflake was die cut using my Cricut Explore.  The original color was a bit bright for the look of the overall card, so I distressed it with antique linen distress ink.

And to add some interest to the inside panel, I used it as a mask with the same distress ink before adhering it to the front of the card.

For my second card, I used the Winter Cheer Stamp TV kit.  This is my first kit and I LOVE it!

I created the card base with Ocean Mist card stock from the kit. The snowflake paper is from the kit paper pad.

The focal panel was cut from Gina K Luxury card stock.  I stamped the tree (from the kit) in Christmas Pine ink.  The snowflakes were stamped with Versamark and clear heat embossed.  The background was created using tumbled glass distress ink.

The snowflakes faded into the background a bit too much, so I added small rhinestones from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.

I created the hills with a torn piece of scrap paper and ink.  I used a clear Wink of Stella brush marker to highlight the snow hills and tree.

To finish the inside, I used the same snowflake stamp from the front inked in a soft pool Hero Arts Shadow ink and Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy ink.

    This challenge sponsor is me!

A randomly selected participant will win the crafty pack pictured below.....

(two stamps from Unity Stamp Co. and a 3 pack of Stickles)

Make sure to link up your creation by the last day of the month by midnight CST to qualify for this challenge! We can't wait to see what you create!

    Santa Door Hanger

    Happy Tuesday!!

I am posting on the Action Wobble blog with today's inspiration.

For my project I created a door hanger for daughter's bedroom door.  I like to add a hanger for each season to the kids' bedroom doors.  And they love it!

The inspiration for my door hanger is the Miss Kate Cuttables Design Team Call.

So, the star of the hanger is a Santa from Miss Kate Cuttables.

The layers were all cut from scrap papers in my stash.  To add some interest, I put some Frosted Lace Stickles on the brim and ball of the had, plus Wink of Stella on his beard, mustache, and hat.

I created the hanger in the Silhouette Studio software and cut it out of CTMH White Daisy cardstock.  Then I stamped the background with some small Peachy Keen Stamps

And for fun, Santa is on an action wobble!

    Winter Penguin

    Happy Small Business Saturday!

Today I am showcasing a card that I made using stamps from my favorite small business, Peachy Keen Stamps.

For my card, I used the new set, Faceless Penguins,  Isn't he the cutest penguin you've ever seen????
I stamped the penguin on Doodlebug Designs Frost Friends paper pad.  And paper pieced his hat.  The sentiment is from the Peachy Keen Stamps Reverse Sentiments, stamped on white card stock with Hero Arts Shadow Ink.  You can't see it in the pic....but the sentiment and parts of the penguin are highlighted with a Spica glitter pen.

    Tag......You're It!

    Happy Black Friday!

Are you all shopping or resting from your Thanksgiving Day?

I have done my shopping and have no need to venture out for Black Friday this year.  In fact, I have already caved and given the kids one of their Christmas presents!   I know, I know...bad Mom..   But who could say no to their little, sweet faces?   Apparently not me.  :-)

It is Friday and you know what that means!!!  We have a new Cardz TV challenge.

      “Tag…You’re It”
Challenge - Create 3 Small Christmas  Gift Tags.

I created my gift tags using the Cricut Explore and Winter Frolic cartridge.
Winter Frolic is one of my favorite cartridges for winter time.

And of course the sentiments are from Cardz TV .

I cut my tags from Papertrey Ink cardstock.  Embellished with Stickles and white and gold gel pens.

The twine and ribbon are from my stash.
